For contributions between $372 and $1240, the tax credit calculation is $279 + 50% of the amount over $372. For contributions larger than $1240, the tax credit calculation is $713 + 33.3% of the amount over $1240 OR $1240, whichever is less. The maximum tax credit of $1240 is obtained when a donation of $2,821 or larger is made. See following examples:
