At the half-way point of his so-called 90-day eco-tax ‘review’ there is still no evidence that Dalton McGuinty has actively consulted with industry experts, businesses or families on his latest tax grab.
However, submissions from industry stakeholders filed earlier this year with the Ministry of Environment, in response to a government review of its waste management programs, reveal that stakeholders warned Dalton McGuinty about the lack of accountability and transparency of Waste Diversion Ontario (WDO) and the eco-tax.
Dalton McGuinty’s lack of consultation and transparency during his 90-day eco-tax reprieve proves he never intended to listen to families or industry experts and planned to hide a new eco-tax on 9,000 products. Ontario PC Leader Tim Hudak has committed that he will eliminate the eco-tax and provide well earned relief for Ontario families and businesses.
