“Today we join Ontario’s Trinidadian and Tobagonian community in celebrating Trinidad and Tobago’s Independence Day.

“Many families living in Ontario trace their roots to Trinidad and Tobago and it is important that we recognize the significant contributions the Trinidadian and Tobagonian community has made to Ontario’s strong cultural heritage.

“This historic day of celebration provides our province’s Trinidadian and Tobagonian community with the chance to reflect on a rich and distinct heritage, a strong and diverse culture and a continued commitment to democratic traditions.

“Trinidad and Tobago’s cultural influence is recognized in Toronto every year during the Caribana Festival season with dazzling performances, elaborate costumes, wonderful music and delicious culinary treats.

“As Ontario PC Leader, I extend my warmest wishes to Ontario’s Trinidadian and Tobagonian community as you celebrate this historic occasion with your family and friends.”
